My network connection is working. Windows Update listed and marked the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter as an Important Update. The update fails during the install.

Steps taken and error messages:

  1. Windows Update listed the Atherod Driver as an Important Update. The installation failed. "Code 800F0203 Windows Update encountered an unknown error."
  2. Did a restart. Same error.
  3. Ran the Fix-It wizard from http://support/microsoft.com/kb/971058 that resets the Windows components.
  4. Deleted the Temp folder. Ran scannow.
  5. Restart. Same error.
  6. I was able to complete 2 Optional Updates.
  7. Opened Device Manager. Right clicked and selected Update Driver Software. Error message: "Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter Found. Error during install. There is no driver selected for the device information set or element."

It may help if I could clear the driver update from the Windows Update list and let it do a clean search.

Any technical assistance or shared experience will be greatly appreciated.

Brummyfan2, I apologize if my previous reply sounded rude. Sometimes when I type, the short words do not convey my thoughts properly. You did give the solution to part of the problem and I do appreciate your advice.

For others who may have the same problem, see https://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100428074233AAz3rhl

Mark the Atheros update as hidden. --Open Windows Update, right-click on the Atheros update and select hide update.

Part 2 of the above referenced instructions, says to Delete the Downloaded Files for the Updates. I did this; however, I do not think it was necessary.
