Hello acer community. I have been using my Acer V5 aspire 571pg for almost a year and a half now, and just 3 days ago, it stopped being able to connect to the internet. On the bottom left, it shows the icon as if ita plugged in with an ethernet cable, even though it doesnt have a port for that, but it has a little x on it. There are no networks listed even though im using one with my cellphone right now. I have tried resetting it, disabling bluetooth since I read something about that with the qualcomm atheros ar5bwb222 and it working odly. I tried downloading the latest drivers from acer to my phone and transferinf them over since it wont connect at all. I used the setup program for the qualcomm thqt came with the driver update and have tried multiple times to uninstqll and reinstall. I tried clicking the updatw driver button and pointing it to the windows 8 driver software on my pc from acer, and it tells me that its not supported on this format. I am out of ideas and It is impereative thaf I get thia reconnected as my family is on vacation and we need it to cover bill payments for things back home...

If your wifi icon is showing the box icon with the x on it in a red circle it usually means that your wireless adaptor itself is turned off.

Right-click your wifi icon > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adaptor Settings > Right-Click and Enable your installed adaptor (usually lababled as Wi-Fi)

It's not even there as a listed adapter.
