X223W Display shifted to left

I hooked up my X223w Monitor to my Asus laptop today and it worked great, until I went to move the monitor and acidently hit the Auto Config button. Now my screen is shifted to the left and the on screen adjustments will not adjust far enough to the right to view the whole destop. I and runnning windows 8. I tried all the setting in the control panel on my computer, adjusted resolution multiple time, talked to tech support from ASUS, tried to update drivers everything I could think of. The only solution I was able to find online is to hook it up to a PC running an older version of windows (ie XP) then plugit back into my laptop. That would be great but I don't have access to another PC. Please tell me there is another way to fix this.

First make sure your Asus notebook is set to a resolution the monitor supports, then press the Auto Config button again. This should work. If you are still having problems, then you may need to try the fix you found online.
