Solid State Drive (SSD) upgrade for V3-571-9401 supported? Having problems...

Hi Everyone.

I've tried a Corsair SATA III 60Gb and Patriot Torqx 128GB SATA II.

The Patriot is detected in BIOS but is not writable by the OS (at all).  There are a number of things I can try but I didn't want to spend the time if there are known problems with this model of laptop and SSDs.  (Maybe I've been lucky but SSD upgrades have usually been no big deal for me in the past.)

Question 1: Are there known problems or special instructions with getting SSDs to work in this model?

Question 2: Why would an SSD not be visible using the UEFI BIOS mode?  (It is visible in "Legacy" mode but not writable.)

Thanks, guys!

I'm unable to answer the first question.  We support the components that we ship with the system.  Hopefully, someone else will be able to assist with that question.

    (2) Why would an SSD not be visible using the UEFI BIOS mode?

UEFI is expecting a GPT partitioned drive rather than MBR.

If you need to boot from an MBR partition, you must use Legacy mode / non Secure Boot.
