Hi again all, my brothers and mine laptop is still not behaving itself. So I thought I'd give this one more go at getting help. Currently the BIOS is set as follows, MAIN. F12 Boot. Enabled SATA . AHCI SECURITY. Supervisor pwd. SET Secure boot mode. STANDARD. All other options beneath/including Secure boot are greyed out. BOOT. BOOT MODE. UEFI SECURE BOOT. DISABLED Boot order USB based devices. Internal CD/DVD Network BOOT HDD0: HDD1: Windows Boot Manager. All options not mentioned are configured to default settings. The problem I am having still, is I can not boot from any external form of media, usb cd etc. I have connected bootable usb and dvds and let the machine boot normally, the boot order should guarantee something should boot before the HDD. W8 still boots. I press F12 with bootable USB and DVDs connected and go into the boot manager menu. Only the HDD with W8 is even listed. Both the USB and DVDs work as bootable media on other computers. I have been told all I needed to control what is booting up is to disable Secure Boot in the BOOT menu. I have and it is not working!! How on earth do I get back control of MINE and MY BROTHERS laptop? Andrew
