What model of pc and monitor.

Possible your DVI cable is not compatible with your graphic card (if you use DVI)

    Hi Tom,

While the box has a DVI port there is not one on the accompanying monitor. The cable and the monitor are the ones that came with the package. The box is an Acer Aspire L320 (2007 build) and until now operated satisfactorily so cannot complain but it would be nice to solve this frustrating problem.

I was interrupted when replying to the last post. The monitor is an Acer LCD model AL1916WA with a Super VGA analog connector while the box has both VGA and DVI-D. The post you made reference to was interesting. Both models power-up in the normal manner so there does not appear to be any problem in this respect. The monitor indicates that it is operating but a menu says there is no signal (currently the unit is dismantled but should be reinstalled later today). Thanks meantime, for your interest and immediate response.
