Greetings,  Newbie alert!  I stupidly closed my tablet cover while it was updating....even once the battery dies out and I plug it in, the update loop begins again and never stops.....

What shall I do now to interupt this process.  All advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Kate

There are several things that could be happening.

The simplest is that you're just not waiting long enough for that 800MB Windows 8.1 update that was released a few weeks ago to finish. Plug it in, boot it up and leave it for several hours. If you come back and it's at a login you're golden.

More complex would be a corrupted update, for that you'll probably have to boot in safe mode and do some stuff to remove the update so it can re-download. It sounds like you're not getting up to Windows so you'll probably want to connect a USB keyboard so you can interrupt the boot process. If you've got one of the smaller tablets (W3/W4 style) you'll also need an adapter to convert the standard USB connector to a micro USB.

Thos are the two most likely, let us know if neither fits...

Thanks for the reply.  I did leave the update on the second time around.....as indicated earlier I had accidentally turned off the computer while it was in update mode which I gather is responsible for this problem.....thing is its been running the update since then.

I have a USB keyboard where I work so I will try that and see if I can interrupt the process.......  I will post the results here.  As far as the other stuff, I am really not technically skilled enough to pull that off without NEWBIE  instructions.

    Cheers,
