Recommended graphics card for S230HL monitor

I recently upgraded my desktop system with this Acer S230HL. I am running a quad-core processor w/8Gigs of Ram. Windows 7-64. This monitor will not fill-out the screen when I use the HDMI connector, but It will go full-screen on VGA connectors, so I'm thinking maybe my graphics card is too weak. I had a smaller LCD monitor which was moved to another computer to replace a huge 19" CRT monitor. Worked fine on that.  I have a AMD Radeon HD 5670 graphics card.

 

Does anyone out there have a solution? My internet access speed is suffering and I am now on the lowest resolution setting as recommended by the computer. I have 20 Gig speed on my internet connection.
