Aspire One erratic typing behavior

I have posted a lead into your Aspire One keyboard/touchpad/cursor problem.  keyword is WORKAROUND.  I do not think it is s/w, touchpad or keyboard related. It appears to be an assembly problem, involving  pressure on the lower deck while typing.  A fix might be to install a piece of insulating paper between the lower deck and the assemby beneathe it.  I am anchored on a boat in a bay in Mexico and have no tools, supplies or drawings.  If you could try the insulation paper and report back, it might solve a lot off problems that have been posted on this site; and save many irrate customers.

My initial post "WORKAROUND"  tells how I used bubblewrap on top of the lower deck to workaround the problem.  It works, just isnt pretty.

I also have this problem on my 1 month old unit and in lieu of your ugly (but thoughtful) solution and going to return this badly designed unit if ACER (NOT ME!!) can't resolve this design problem.

I'm old and experienced buyer and DO NOT put up with this poor engineering nonsense.

Good for you Tim.  I think that too many of us try to fix problems that are not of our own making. Sending it back is the right thing to do.  Life is too short.

    Thanks for the backup Leho.

I contacted Acer "contact us" and did a chat with a NON-American with a definately foreign name. This Acer employee/ contractor denied anyone knew about this issue which I documented on the Acer forum before I contacted her.

I called her out as a lier and relayed my information source.

Does Acer condone this "cover-up" as their company corporate policy? (Interesting question I may pursue.)

None the less she passed the following link about disabling/changing the touch pad and I'll try this during the weekend. However if not resolved by Sat nite the Aspire V3 731-4634 is going back to Acer as defective by me.

Not being a computer geek I have to stumble bumble thru this modification process as best I can.
