Aspire A7600U-ER12 Internal Speakers not working

Hi there,

I recently hooked up a second monitor to my A7600u and lost the use of the internal speakers. The external monitor is connected via a VGA cable with an HDMI adapter on it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver with no success. I can monitor the sound levels and can see that the sound should be there but there is nothing. Anyone have any Ideas/Suggestions?

You'll need to check if your default audio device is set correctly. Here's how you can check it:
    1. Press 'Windows key + R', type in 'mmsys.cpl' (without quotes) in the run box and hit Enter.
    2. You should see a list of audio devices in the Playback tab of the Sound Properties window.
    3. Select the device you want to use and then click on 'Set as default'.
    4. Check if you're able to play sounds.
    5. If not, try another device listed there.

If the issue still persists and none of the audio devices are able to play sounds, refer to this link for further troubleshooting:

I've checked to make sure that the internal speakers are set as the default, and have looked in the device manager, all appears normal but there is still no sound coming out of the internal speakers when hooked up to another monitor

If there are more than one devices listed in "Sound Properties", try setting all of them as default one at a time and see if you can get any sound using one of them.

If you're using an HDMI cable to connect your computer to an HDMI-capable monitor with speakers, you might not be able to hear sound. HDMI cables support audio signals, but not all HDMI enabled video cards support audio.

Can the HDMI monitor play audio? Does the monitor have its own speakers? If yes, then you might have to check on the monitor if the sound settings are correct.
Also, you must plug in the monitor directly without an adapter. If there's no HDMI slot on your system to connect the HDMI monitor, it might not have the capability to support an HDMI monitor.

The all in one has the speakers that I am trying to get to work. The secondary monitor has no speakers and is connected to the all in one by a VGA cable with an hdmi adapter. The secondary monitor has no speakers.

I have set all the devices to default one by one and the only sounds come out of the speakers that are plugged into the all in one.
