Acer support in my language

I am British living in France.   My French is not that good so when I needed a new machine in November 2013, I purchased a UK unit (qwerty) from Amazon UK.   When I finalised my decision I believed that I would receive support, should I need it, in English from Acer support.   WRONG.   I have a problem with my machine which I am trying to resolve.   I sought support from Acer UK only to be told that as I was not living in the UK they could not help me.  Surely as a worldwide player your customer care is better than that!  HP Compaq my previous unit provided support without problem.

I'm sorry to hear about the barriers that we have put up for you, Hectorp. I agree with you that this doesn't seems like a good policy. In fact, I believe it is probably a conflict between TWO policies; one in each of the two countries involved. Technically, what your reporting here is not really an 'Idea', but is a tech support issue. And a REALLY valid one! So while I'm not going to push this forward as an 'Idea', I am going to raise this to our Tech Support team and see if we can get you access to some help. I am also going to move this item over to the Community Forum, rather than here in the Idea Forum. Our support folks review the Community activity and you may get some response over there, in addition to the efforts I'm taking. But we will get back to you over on the Community side as soon as we have something for you. I'm glad you let us know about this conflict.
