Acer Iconia A100 frozen- won't boot past Acer Logo

Same old story: Used my A100. Powered it down. Next went to power it on. Stuck at Acer logo.
I tried for a couple of days to troubleshoot the problem myself, looking up online how to perform soft and hard resets. No such luck- still stuck at the logo.
I now know from researching online that this problem is not at all a new or, even, uncommon problem. It has been going on for a couple of years now and is widely reported. (Google: bricked a100 or a100 stuck logo). And, it is a bad problem. Minus any *real* help from Acer, we're left with rather expensive paperweights.
There seems to be no solution other than paying more than your tablet is worth to repair it, or simply replacing it with a different brand of tablet as it seems Acer really couldn't care less.
Oh, the rep told me that the 'free repairs' for this problem ended at the end of April. SEVEN DAYS AGO! Gee, thanks. Her next statement was: "Do you want to open a repair ticket or not?" Umm... NOT.
I don't understand why Acer is so indifferent to this issue. It is an all-too-common issue that, rightfully, should have been handled as a recall if Acer cared.
It is an absolute black eye to their brand.
It is a total punch to their collective customers' guts.
It looks like I'm in the market for a new tablet.
One without the Acer logo.
When it's time to replace my family's laptops, I will do the same.
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

I'm no one's fool.

I apologize that we've created this level of frustation for you. We did offer some courtesy repairs to customers outside of their standard warranty period because we do want to show that care, and wanted to correct the issue. While we are no longer offering a courtesy repair, we are still willing to try and work with you if you're interested in repairing the tablet. If you'd send me your serial number in a private message I'd be glad to review and see what options we have available.

So, it seems the best Acer can do is offer an Android OS reinstallation at $124!!
Hardly worth it. It's a simple download and installation; both of which run automatically, requiring almost no time of a repair tech.
Also, that SAME installation has been offered to me at 4 DIFFERENT prices in a matter of 2 days: $249, $150, $99, and, now, $124. That, in itself, is questionable.
I tried. Apparently, though, Acer is more interested in alienating customers than creating loyalty.

My best solution is spending my money on a different brand tablet.
