Acer 5740-6378 - Restore Fails every time from DVD

HDD died in Acer 5740-6378.  Purchase a 1TB HDD and waited for the restore DVD to arrive by mail.  While I wated, I installed Ubuntu 14.04 which worked great and was very fast.

Finally the DVDs arrived, I wiped Ubuntu from the drive and erased the drive to be RAW.  I loaded the DVDs as instructed (longest restore ever) and chose the "restore to factory defaults".  After reboot the machine was starting windown.  When it was starting services it said something along the lines of" Windows cannot complete installation on this hardware.  It will continue after reboot.  - After it reboots it says something along the lines of "setup can't continue and you must start windows installation again.  It gets stuck in a loop doing this.

I erased the HDD and attempted just a partial restore which keeps the "user" data.  I figured it would be quicket to try that.  It was just as long and same result as above.

I erased the HDD once again and tried a factory restore, same result.

I then tried something else.  the HDD is 1TB and the old one was 300 gigs or so.  I created a partition of 300 Gigis and started the install.  Same result.  Locks up in the same place.

Any ideas?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like either bad disks, or a hardware problem. I would call Acer and see if they can replace the disks or repair your system. You may need to send it to them for a reload.
