Acer Network out of range

My Acer Q1v2c says "network out of range", after receiving from the network earlier.  Also, other device (ipad) is connected.  Did troubleshooting with Xfinity, it worked again, but then stopped.  It works only when hard-wired.

What product is the Acer Q1v2c? Are you referring to the Acer C710 Chromebook? If so then I would recommend performing a powerwash if you are having troubles connecting to your home network. You may also want to try resetting your wireless router to see if it will reset the IP as that could be why you are receiving that message.

If you continue to have a problem it could be hardware related and would recommend contacting technical support in your region.

Thanks for the solution ideas.  But I don't know how to "power wash".  And, how do I find tech support in my region?

    Thanks.

You can perform a power wash by following the steps in this article or you can watch the video included in the article.

I followed your instructions for a powerwash, thank you!  It worked!  HOWEVER, it was not a permanent fix.  I had to do it again today to restore the wifi.  So, a 1.5 year old Acer Chromebook has to be powerwashed every two weeks to keep its wifi capability?

    imgreen,

I'm sorry you have had to power wash your Chromebook every two weeks. This is not normal and does not sound like an issue with the Chromebook itself. It sounds like the wireless router/modem you are connecting to is not keeping a static IP address. This could cause the system to lose connection or not be able to connect at all.

I would try performing a power reset on your router/modem and if that does not work, try changing your modems settings. You may need to contact the manufacture of your router/modem for assistance with this.

Another thing you can try outside of a power wash is to "forget that network" then try to reconnect. Or you can try connecting to another network. If it connects, then it would show that there is not a hardware issue but a possible issue with your network or network settings.
