Max Memory in a V3-771G with i5-3230M

I have a V3-771G-53238 i5-3230M which came with 8GB RAM installed (single chip) running Windows 8.1.

I would like to upgrade to 16GB and have heard it is not possible to go beyond 8GB with a dual core but looking at the Intel spec i5-3230M Processor it says the max supported is 32GB.

Does anyone know if the 8GB limit is a restriction of the motherboard?

    hi....

This model supports Dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM, up to 4 GB of DDR3 system memory, upgradable to 8 GB using two soDIMM modules for Dual-Core CPU, upgradable to 16 GB using four soDIMM modules for Quad-Core CPU

Download and run Crucial's scanner. This program will tell you everything you need to know about your computer's memory requirements (maximum RAM, largest amout per slot etc) and will even make recommendations for you!

    Thanks for the reply.

The scan only detected 2 DIMM slots but i'm sure there's 4.

I think i'll order another 8GB and see what happens.
