Acer Aspire 8943g Chipset Driver

I was having some 300 errors in Event Viewer concerning standby performance which I gathered were sleep and hibernation issues. Anyway I gathered that I should take a look at my chipset drivers or driver so I could see which one is installed. I could not find the chipset driver that is installed on my Laptop according to the Acer drivers site. All it says there is chipset driver. I downloaded it and I tried to find it in Device Manager but I can't find it anywhere. When searching in google I find they could be talking about 3 different chipsets. Is this true? Like Display, audio, video?? Now I am really confused. How do I install this driver if I can't find it in Device Manager? It comes zipped up so I thought extract, run setup, but I'd rather know where this is going but the acer driver site does not indicate which chipset it is and like I said I can't find it in Device Manger. Please someone Help. All it says in Acer Drivers is "Chipset Driver" and I download the zipped up driver but when I tried to install it using setup after I extracted from zipped or rar'd file it says it installed but it is not findable in the device manager. I feel that I am missing the proper way to install this chipset driver. Could someone please help guide me to a proper install of this driver.

If you see no alerts in Device Mgr, then the Intel MB chipset driver is working and communicating properly with all the hardware peripherals integrated with or attached to your MB. And vice-versa. Accordingly, I think you properly installed the chipset driver.

The only thing is I can not find the driver I installed anywhere in Device Manager. The one I installed for my laptop is 9.1.1.1024 chipset driver from this site. Now if you can tell me where it is so I can see for myself I'll be happy. I would really like to know why it is hidden or nobody seems to be able to say, go to Storage, or Video , USB, or IDE ATA/ATAPI. Or even system devices. There are like 4 different things with Chipset attached but none with my driver. You see where I'm coming from on this?

I believe if you check the properties of the computer in Device Mgr, it will list an Intel MB PC driver number. If you stil don't find anything or aren't satisfied, it's probably best to inquire at Intel directly regarding this MB chipset driver.

There is no Motherboard driver listed in Device Manager for the Acer 8943g. However just for the heck of it I went to the Intel Driver Update Utility page and let that run and it just so happened to identify my driver as the one installed so I'm happy on that point. Now it also gave me a heads that I am running the wrong AMD HD Audio Driver 7..... anyway I have the one from Realtek that they reccomended installed too. There are 2 audio drivers installed. One AMD not reccomended and Realtek reccomended. Why do I have 2 if they say one is wrong and the acer Driver site only lists the one. This driver stuff just blows me away.

Sure does. Glad you sorta got at least part of the chipset driver mystery resolved. 8^) If you google the term, you'll find the definitions are sorta hazy at best. On mine, it does list a driver number but, other than it working properly, it doesn't list any details that obviously relate back to the description on the Acer driver downloads. Possibly because some of the Acer download files are just whatever the original mfrs like Intel give them and nothing else.
