Aspire G7200 – WIN8 x64 Install – Missing Driver @ Setup

Hi

I am trying to re-install (fresh) Windows 8 x64 on my Aspire G7200 but the install is failing at the setup section, looking for a driver. I suspect the missing driver is the ATI SB600 but I have tried all the drivers I can find.

Disk is set to IDE in bios.

Has anyone else been able to install Windows 8 and can remember the steps?

The sad thing is I have installed windows 8 on this machine before, I just can’t remember how I did it.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards

Mark

Are you installing your own copy of Windows 8, or are you using Acer recovery software? If they are Acer disks, please call our tech support and we will look into getting you another set.

If you are installing a retail copy, I don't really have any suggestions, but maybe other community members will be able to offer suggestions.

    Hi,

It’s a fresh (my retail copy) windows 8 install, same dvd I used to do the original install just missing the drivers.

I am hoping someone else has done this and can remember the steps.

Did you try loading all available Windows updates to see if that helps? Other than that, I don't really have any suggestions.

Can’t do any updates as windows isn’t installed … it’s a driver issue .. I just need to work out which driver is missing for the install to work .. someone out there would have done a clean install on a G7200.. just need to wait for him / her to pop long and share the info.
