Firefox keeps trying to load https and gives error message

I have a new Veritron M4036G PC.  I use Windows 7 x64 and Firefox 28.

When I go to a website I usually get a popup that says

This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.google.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

The fix they suggest on the Firefox forum is to change FF options to use no proxy and it doesn't help. When I make an exception for that site and make the change permanent it doesn't stay permanent.

I don't have this problem with my laptop or my old PC using Windows 7 x64 and Firefox 28. Just this one.  I know others are having this problem but I only have it here.

Is there something I need to change inside this Acer PC to fix that problem?

    hi... Smiley Happy

You can start Firefox in safe mode  to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes). On Windows you can open Firefox  in Safe Mode by holding theShift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut. You can also open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running. To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Try once again going into Firefox options and going to the advanced tab then into the Network sub-tab. Once there, under Connection, click Settings and then hit No Proxy. Firefox might be going through a Proxy Server which is making Google have an invalid Security Certificate.

You can also try to rest firefox to default state, at the top of the Firefox window, click the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information. If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting information page.

To continue, click Reset Firefox in the confirmation window that opens. Firefox will close and be reset. When it's done, a window will list the information that was imported. Click Finish and Firefox will open.

    Thanks,

Somehow it fixed itself overnight.  I  think I know what I had done but I fought FF it so long I am not sure.

I got to thinking my question might sound like I was criticizing this new Acer PC. No, I like It.

I was so PO'ed and frustrated that I  wondered if there was any setting in the PC's configuration that affected how FF behaved. Sure that was dumb.
