Additonally Windows XP and all files have been wiped clean from the HDD.  I have the legal Windows 7 DVD to install, but need the computer specific software to enable my External DVD player to be accessed - also there must be some hardware interface software that needs to go along with an operating System.  Is there any way to make a usable laptop out of this hardware.

The screen comes on and shows this: "

    Intel UNDI.  PX-2.1 (Build 002)

    Copyright © 1992-2000 Intel Corporation

For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v1.0.0.5(01/22/09)

    Check Cable connection. .!

PXE-E63:  Error while initializing the NIC

    PXE-MOF:  Exiting Intel PXE ROM

No Bootable device – Insert Boot disk and press and key"

As best as I can read the SNID it is [edited for privacy]  (the final numbers are very obscure and difficult to ascertain).

As read the recovery disk info, it is probably Windows XP and not saleable per Micorosoft decree.

Is there any hope for resurrecting this neat little laptop or am I totally wasting my time?

    Hello Gene1931,

Your netbook is Aspire One AOD250 (KAV60).

You can find S/N in Insyde H20 Setup Utility (to enter press F2 when you see Acer screen).

Your system can't find the bootable device (HDD), so it tries to boot using PXE-boot(network boot option).

In first, it's necessary to check your Hard Disk Drive (Seatools works with any brands):

    Tools and file:

1- Download the file Seatools for dos version V1.12 (Text) - ISO CD-ROM IMAGE: SeaToolsDOS112.ISO

2- Download ISO Toolkit (portable version - no install): ISOToolkit.zip

3- Download Win32 Disk Imager (portable version - no install): Win32 Disk Imager

    Procedure:

1- Format your USB key with the Windows Disk Manager in FAT32.

2- Execute ISO Toolkit --> Extract image tab, you extract SeaToolsDOS112.ISO in a folder.

    3- In this folder, rename SeaTools.ima --> SeaTools.img

4- Execute Win32 Disk Imager, write Image File: SeaTools.img (new one) on your usb key.

Normally, you'll find these files and folder on your USB key:

    Image-1.jpg

5- Boot on your USB key

6- Make Short (touch S) and Long (touche L) test only.

7- To quit the program CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot.
