Have you tried re-installing the Win7 driver under Win8?

Check Device Manager for the model number of the installed audio hardware. If it's integrated with the Intel 3000 series graphics system, have you tried this Intel update yet? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23376

    Thanks

The intel link is also for the 2000 series.

Do you see any error highlights for the Conexant soundcard in Device Mgr?

Do you have an Intel cougar point HDMI listed in your Device Mgr?

I cannot see your posted images. They are only placeholders.

Yes, I understand. There seems to be a bug in the native Win8 driver for the cougar point hardware. If the official Intel Win8 driver can't be found yet, there may be this workaround.

First, power down computer. Then connect HDMI port to a TV. Also connect audio port to a speaker. Power on TV. Then power on speakers if so equipped with amplifier. Then power on computer. Report back with results.

    Thanks
