A 810 with dark screen

The screen on our sons A 810 Iconia tablet has recently gone dark.

The image on the main screen is still visible, but barely.

Has one or more of the screen leds gone bad ?

Is this something I can fix myself?

The tablet is only 2 mths old , we could send to Acer to fix, but would prefer to avoid that if possible

First thing I'd do is check the settings for the display, just to make sure it's not just configured to be dark. If it's on automatic brightness I'd next verify the light sensor isn't obscured. If it thinks it's dark it'll dim the display, both to help the eyes and to save battery.

Brightness display setting are adjusted as "bright" as allowed.

"economical backlight" setting is not checked, so not turned on

The light sensor is not obscured, took it out of proctective case just to make sure Smiley Happy

    Any ideas?

I'm leaning to an led or leds being burnt out...

Not aware how old your device is, sorry, just read your first post and your device is fairly new, have you tried a soft reset of the android system, gently inserting a pin or similar in to the reset hole in the top middle of the tablet ? Should be done whilst the tablet is on.

Have you by any chance downloaded a battery saver power app or similar which may have caused this situation ?
