The sleep issue very much exists

IT person here have tried to troubleshoot the issue

Have refreshed /reinstalled still the issue persists it mainly related to broadcom wireless sdio chip/driver.

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Miix-2-8-Freezing/td-p/1314125

With wireles disabled the tab resume even after long sleep without issues.

Till now my diaganostics

Have played around with the setting of broadcom wireless by turning off all power saving  related feature; freezing reduced but still exists .

Have updated the driver from below links and tried still the same .

Version: 5.93.100.4

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/gtw308ww.exe

Version 5.93.99.187.1

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/T100TA/WLAN_T100_Broadcom_Win81_32_VER593991871.zip

also some observation

have an tplink 1043nd with a atheros chip and ddwrt seems some compatibilty issue between the two

still experimenting will arrange a ap with bordacom chip and test ..

Will be trying out the following :-

test with 1043nd  deafult firmware

test with broadcom based ap with all power saving on

test with broadcom based ap with all power saving off

if all the above fails then the issue could be chip / driver related .

I request acer to check the above link and look in the issue .

Also kindly update the chipset drivers to latest one .......

Regards

NIkh

    New updates

restored the ap to defaults with default firmware but still freezing.

unable to find a broadcom chip based ap.

    now NEW SET OF PROBLEMS

after updating to april 8 windows 8.1 update 1

1)keyboard touch tone is barely audible

2)after resuming from connected standby the wireless network location turns to public

need to disconnect and reconnect to wireless ap to acquire the same saved network location......

so now its getting more and more frustrating .

    Same problem here, mate.

Have not had much time playing around with it yet, but it seems to be releated to your problem since it only does it at home, when I have wireless turned on.

Tank you for giving me a head start to where I should look =)

    Hi Nikh,

Our team at HQ has confirmed the issue with the system hanging after an extended time when waking from sleep with WLAN connected. They're in the process of addressing this and I will provide an update as soon as one is available.

I'm sorry for the frustration and I wish I had more information at this time, but hopefully this helps for now.

    Glad to here that

    Waiting for a concrete solution

More expereince from my side -------

---- seems more of a compatibility issue between bluetooth and wifi chip

triggered when connected to certain ap (in my case dd-wrt loaded )

---- also could be "power save wmm" issue  as when i run powercfg /energy get a warning of power save wmmm not supported on ap ...

    (other plz dont try this)

Below are  temporary workarounds till acer fixses the issue

if u need  the driver package or need assistance to create schedule task let me know

    Apart in the mean time

    have experimented a bit

on the same win8.1  installed tablet  without formatting

    1) downloaded the chipset driver from different windows 8 tablet  website

    like

    Asus t100ta / thinkpad 8  / station-drivers

mixed the original acer driver pack with the latest driver except graphics

and installed accrodingly checking proper compatibility ( no modification to drivers has been done)

    2)updated realtek I2S from station drivers (realtek_audio_I2S_6.2.9600.4095(www.station-drivers.com))

didnt run the setup just updated driver through device manager

    3)Broadcom Bluetooth  (Bluetooth_Broadcom_Win81_32_VER12009090 (Asus t100ta))

    through setup

    4)Wireless too

    Version 5.93.99.187.1

    http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/T100TA/WLAN_T100_Broadcom_Win81_32_VER593991871.zip

Below is the  newer  version as per numbering but are actually older then the above when checking in driver files

    Version: 5.93.100.4

    http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/gtw308ww.exe

    Outcome of above

Freezing rare infact just experienced once

Power consumption in connected standby low .

well at the moment dont have time to test further and cant risk my work or data so have created a scheduled task based on event and batch file which turns off wifi when i enter connected standy and turns on when i resume .

    @chivra

if u need help to creat a schedule task based on batch file can help u with that.

I allready did exactly what you wrote others should not try except that I used driver magician instead of downloading them manually. =) Seems to work quite well just by updating drivers.

The problem with D-M is that it sometimes download the wrong drivers so you must keep an eye on where it chose to download from and what drivers it says you need. Not for the faint of heart nor do I recommend it unless you are prepared to reinstall the whole machine if something goes south.

Thank you for telling me where to look for possible driver issues, Nihahuja =)

I'm having the same issue. I have to plug the tablet back in and hold down the power button for it to come back to life very often after sleep mode.

Can anyone send me a link to all the drivers that help ease this issue?

Those say they are 64bit drivers, the acer w4 is 32bit windows

I installed these 64bit drivers and they worked seemed to fix at least some of the odd power on and off issues I had.

    Thanks
