help.  i bought an acer "aspire" about 2 or 3 years ago and got office word and excel included for free.  it was not not not, i repeat NOT, a starter program - have used it for 2 or 3 years so obviously that goes beyond "starter".  it was free cause i only wanted excel and word, didn't get all the other stuff and it was some sort of promotion or something.

also have no memory of installing from a cd, it was just there, complilments of microsoft.

all was well till about a week ago when i started my laptop, as usual.  got that "update" junk for a minute or two, not the "leave your computer on for updates", but the other thing that it does sometimes before it will even go to the blue screen/password/welcome - whatever.  so it did "that", whatever "that" was, and when i tired to open my excel spreadsheet, i get an error window titled "click to run application manager" and a message in that window that states "miocrosoft excel started 2010 cannot be opened.  try again or repair the product in control panel".  i've tried, and i do not have a "repair" option when i go into the control panel.

does this make sense to anyone?  does anyone know how i can get ahold of microsoft?

i've got a 300 page journal and all my finances on word and excel - am really having a problem and no one seems to know why or what to do.....

help.....

thanks

I would honestly just do a system restore to roll your computer back to before that update was done. It should resolve the issue and work fine. To get to system restore, you'll click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore. Once it loads you'll need to choose the date that is on the calendar that was before the update that caused the issue happened.
