I have a Acer Iconia W700(I5 core) after the windows 8.1 update it was very slow and buggy but it has been fixed and running fast again.

But i have another problem my volume button is not putting the volume up or down anymore.

When i press the volume button it goes to narrator settings and there's a lady who is speaking(guiding me).

but i don't how to get the volume button back to normal before the Windows 8.1 update.

And i just found out about this volume button problem today as well.

Can someone help me please? Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks.

W8.1 upgrade is definitely something we must prepare our computer for before starting.  Because most people don't prepare their computer it will cause issues.

Did you make your backup set of discs prior to updating to W8.1 ?

Is your BIOS the most up to date version ? V2.14 ?

Did you uninstall the intel graphics driver before updating to W8.1 ?

Did you download and have ready your new W8.1 drivers so you can install them once W8.1 is complete ?

No. i don't know how to and you can't anyway because there is no CD drive on tablets.

Yes i did after 8.1 update while my Acer W700 was buggy and very slow and now it is fast again.

    No i did not.

I think so because i have used Iobit Driver boaster(updater) and it said the drivers are up to date.

In all i was just forced to update to the 8.1 update because i could not stop it from downloading\installing the 8.1 update from 8.0 version because i wanted to stay on the previous version.

I think with the W700 you do the backup/recovery using a 16GB+ flashstick.

However if you purchase an external USB DVD drive then you can use the standard method for performing a backup.

Personally I set windows updates to not download anything unless I tell it to......can't be having microsoft run your computer (and probably update you into a mess also).

Here is a link to the process for installing the Windows 8.1 update (and should ensure no bugs afterwards too) - http://www.acer.it/ac/en/GB/content/windows81-update
