HI, i'm tom.  i have an acer extensa 5620.  i can't boot up from my recovery disks to change the password on the the administrative account.  we lost the password 2 months ago.  we have access to a NON administrative account ONLY.

in BIOS i changed the boot option to #1 for cd/dvd.  at start up i press the f10 key and it takes me to a black screen which reads--EDIT BOOT OPTIONS--(new line) Edit Windows boot opions for: Microsoft Windows Vista--(new line)Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe--(new line)Partion: 2--(new line)Hard Disk: b37a81e0--(new line) [  /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN.  i don't know what to do!!!!  HELP.  I HAVE CONTRACT A VIRUS THIS WEEK ALSO.

Try using the instructions on http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2631 to launch recovery outside of Windows. If that does not work, I suggest you try to enable the boot menu in the BIOS. Once you have the boot menu enabled, restart the system, and press F12 when you see the Acer logo. From there, select the CD Rom to boot the system from.
