What is the proper way to take care of a li-ion 6-cell laptop battery?  My computer is a GATEWAY NE56R41u and i am wondering.. Is what i am doing killing the battery? I charge my laptop let it go to 100% then i unplug until it gets to like 15% then i plug it back up.. I do this just about every day.. Since i use my laptop as a daily computer to use.. Somebody told me to just keep the laptop plugged in all the time and at least once a month let it discharge to 15% or lower and then recharge again to protect the battery.. What do you guys recommend?

    Hi Michaelrocks0

There is some good advice on Li-ion batteries here. Personally, I've always found that people who keep the batteries plugged in, definitely have a shorter life span!

I agree with doing descharging 15% or lower once a month. But never keep your battery plugged in all the time use it only when you need to. Also, don't let it get hot.

So is it good or bad to leave laptop plugged all the time?

    Bad.

Do not leave in all the time, IE 24-7! Use the battery on occasions, and as ryanfisher614 says, don't let the battery level drop too low. If you follow the advice on the link in my previous post, and you'll be OK!

Permanent use of the charger will kill your battery!
