32GB USB not seen by Acer Recovery Manager - Acer Aspire V5-571G Win81 64 bit

Win8.1 shows I've got an empty 32GB USB drive (Brand PNY)

but Acer Recovery Manager doesn't find it as a USB drive when I try to:

 

 

• Create Factory Default Backup,
• Copy content from the recovery partition to the recovery drive,
• Select your USB Flash Drive

are not applicable - since the USB is big enough and empty yet not seen.

 

I've tried reformatting the USB drive as NTFS and as FAT32 neither are seen.

This happens on two different Acer Aspire V5-571G Win8.1 64 bit notebooks

Any clues how to proceed?

 

Can I make an iso in some other way, perhaps?

just to say this problem has resolved itself without any explicit intervention by me - at least for one of the two laptops.

 

Is the Recovery Partion the same on both Acer Aspire V5-571G - or is their an individual serial number/etc encode inside?
