Monitor worked just fine when connected to my laptop. When connected to my Dell Dimension 8250 desktop the monitor won't come back on with monitor power button. Have to turn computer off and then on again to get monitor back on. Computer has an ATI Raseon 9700 video controller

I thought it might be the computer. But the old Dell monitor works fine on it. The Radion card sees the Acer monitor, even shows the model #. I set Acer as primary monitor too since Dell is not connected.

Just tried it with a VGA cable instead of DVI cable. It works!  Amazing. I used DVI cable with old Dell monitr OK. I had tried 2 different DVI cables so I know it wasn't a bad cable. When I hae \d Acer connected to my laptop it was with a HDMI cable.  Must be something with the Acer that it doesn't like DVI

Auto config on Acer works now too. It did nothing when DVI cable was used.

So it was an age compatibility issue. But issue is newer monitor likes older cable.

    Hi judoman

Sounds like a problem with the Dell. Does it happen every time you switch on the Dell or is it only after you've been using it on your laptop?

I know the Radeon 9700 is an old graphics card, but does it have the last up to date driver installed?

If it has, then it might be just because of its age/incompatibility issues.

That's bizarre! But I'm glad you're now fixed Smiley Happy
