Aspire V5-122P wifi low speed

The Problem

I have a new Aspire v5-122p, connected to my home wifi network. Download speed is around 300 KB/s, up to 500 KB/s sometimes, but never above this value.

If I connect other devices to the same network, I get a much better speed:

- 6 years old Toshiba laptop: ~1.4 MB/s

- Android tablet: ~1 MB/s

I upgraded Win 8 drivers, then upgraded the system to Win 8.1 and installed the latest drivers from Acer website, but the speed remain the same.

Background

The first laptop I bought (and changed later for the same model) had the Atheros wifi card and the wifi speed was just fine (~1 MB/s). Unfortunately the touchscreen was not working, so I changed it for the same model, in the same store. To my suprize the new one had the Broadcom card, that seems to have the above problem.

And the question

Anyone has any idea on what to do? I already did a refresh, I have the latest drivers, I unistalled McAfee and I'm out of options. I really don't want to go again and change it, quite sure the next one will have a diferent problem.

    hi...

You may check the BIOS version and update it to V 2.10.

To find your current BIOS version in Windows, please follow the steps below:
Press the Windows (Image: icon_Windows8_key.png) key + X, select Run, and then type msinfo32 and hit the Enter key.
In the System Information window, click System Summary and locate your current BIOS Version/Date to the right.
