Hi all. I have an Aspire 7730 running vista home premium and wanted to upgrade to Windows 7. I looked on the acer site for W7 drivers and they are listed for my machine except there are no Lan or wireless Lan drivers. Does this meen that i cant upgrade the opperating system?

Not necessarily. How are you planning to upgrade?

OK. If you haven't done so already, I'd recommend first running the winvista to win7 upgrade advisor. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-vista-to-windows-7#T1=tab01

Thank you. very helpful.  Ran ran the advisor and it could not find info on the drivers for the device so non the wiser. If i decide not to do a clean instal and upgrade will this make a difference?

    Thanks again for your help.

Do you have a vista erecovery partition or vista recovery DVDs? Whether an upgrade or clean install, you will want to be able to recover to factory fresh in the event it doesn't work out.

. sorry for the delay in responding. My computer pretty much gave up. A vista update issue that i cant resolve. its the reason for me wanting to try a different OS. I did have a factory default, yes. it has got me up and running again but cant seem to get sp2 on it without it dying again. Thanks for your help and sorry for the delay.

Does this mean you've never been able to install sp2? What do you mean by "dying"? Symptoms? Error messages? Hanging?
