I have an Acer 5349 with Celeron B815 CPU and 2G DDR3 1066 RAM memory. I decided to upgrade the memory and bought an 4G DDR3 1333MHZ CL9. Unfortunately, it still works at 1066 CL7. I swaped several DDR3 modules, one being Kingston HyperX PNP 1600 CL9, to no avail. I tried another CPUs, i3 2310, i5 2410 and now, i7 2630QM, the **bleep** thing does not want to go beyond 1066 MHz memory speed. I thought it was due to the CPUs, but several reviews and tests on the web showed the i7 working at 1600 with HyperX memory. I even saw a laptop from another manufacturer with a Celeron B960, the memory was working at 1333.
I am pretty sure that it is a BIOS thing. Is there a chance for a BIOS update to unlock this excellent laptop?
