What do I do if the Acer erecovery software had an error, and now windows won't load?

I downloaded the Acer Erecovery software for my Acer X1700 and used it to reformat my computer back to factory settings.  When I came back to it to check on it, it said that there was an error and that it failed.  I restarted my computer and now it says it can't read the hard drive, and to restart it. What should I do now?  I don't have a Vista installation cd, so I can't put that in there to boot from that.  Restarting it doesn't do anything.

Any ideas on what to do?

Is the hard drive visable in the BIOS? If you can't see the hard drive in the BIOS that generally means that the hard drive is defective and needs to be replaced. Check that before you purchase RCDs, it might save you some time to just swap the hard drive and use the recovery discs that you made.

I've had a similar problem using recovery disks I purchased from Acer and installed a new unused HD and got the same error.  Now what?
