Aspire 5750 Screen Replacement

In the last few months I've had some issues with my screen where it decides to colour parts of the entire screen with a transparent layer of purple, green or both. While I've considered this for a long time I never got around to actually do it, until recently. I've found a seemingly compatible screen replacement (Link), and according to my own observations it seems to me just about identical, which is why I'm asking you guys a somewhat technical question:

Does it HAVE to be perfectly/nearly identical? I mean, if I find a screen with the same type of background lighting, resolution (obviously), size ( :I ), cable connection types and whatnot? Basicly I want to find a Matte screen instead of the standard Gloss one.

 

Useful info:
Pressing at a certain point hard enough on the screen edge will make the colours go away, sometimes for a period of time but usually only while I keep pressure on that point.
I have checked if it's just a loose LCD-cable, but I have confirmed it's not.
The issues I'm having does not make it impossible to use, but certain "states" of colour makes it hard to do things

The most difficult bit about repairing notebooks for friends has been panels.

 

Many companies claim a panel will work in a particular model but I find 3 out of 4 do not as they send you some lesser known manufacturers compatible panel.

 

I would recommend emailing them a photo of all the stickers on the back of the panel to confirm you will not both be wasting your time.  Remind them also of their UK legal obligations under long distance selling rules and that if the item is not as described (ie: Work in your AS5750) then you expect them to pay for return postage and give a full refund.

 

Hope you use this information to your advantage, and I do agree it does sound like your panel has failed.
