Unable to install new SSD in Aspire V5-571

Not being a techie, I have found out that there is no easy access to the hard drive on an Acer Aspire V5-571.  The person with whom I spoke at ACER told me as I have owned the computer for slightly over one year, tough luck.  I spent over $600 for computer that is built like a disposable tablet.  What horrible design and calious support people.  Does the company purposely try to sell just one item to each customer?  Without some help from Acer, I'll certainly never buy another Acer product.

    Hi Tom10i,

Access is not as easy as most computers but it is still easy.  Personally I dont like the idea of only 2 screws being between a thief and my HDD.  Anyways that aside this is how you do it :

    Remove power adapter and battery.

Remove all the screws in the underside of the notebook.

Above the top row of keys on your keyboard are 4 clips which need pushing into the casing so you can remove the keyboard module. Use a plastic tool to do this as you probably dont want to damage the casing.

Take out the screws now available to you since the keyboard is removed.  Unplug all the ribbon cables you can see.

    Gently remove the uppercover.

You should now be able to see your HDD and replace it for your nice new SSD.

A computer techie will only take 15 minutes to complete this job.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new SSD in your V5, it will move so fast you may feel the need to hold it down ! Smiley Happy
