Hi all:

I'm new to forums so forgive me if I get in the wrong lane.

Two things:

My Acer 720 just arrived and, when I tried to download 32 and then 64 bit Linux Suse i was told it may harm my computer! so i backed out.Is the OS already on it? Mine's a refurb so I don't have tech support.

Also, how do I put my files (I'm a writer) on it from my Macbook. Can I just use a USB drive?

I'm obviously not familiar with web-based computing!

thanks,

The OS is Chrome OS and it is already installed. I would not recommend you install OpenSUSE at this time or any other Linux Operating System because it seems as if your new to Chrome OS

You can put your Mac Word Files on to your Acer C720 by uploading them to Google Drive through your Mac.

Once uploaded you should just sign in with the google account you used for Google Drive on your Chromebook and you will be able to do all editing online, very easily.c

Search GOOGLE DRIVE on your Mac and Sign Up with a Google Account. If you do not have one you can sign up at GMAIL.COM.

But if you have a Chromebook, the one you signed up with, will most likley be a Google Account. Unless your logged in as Guest.

Let me know if you need any further help, welcome to the Acer Community.

I did find it helpful, thanks.

I just came back from a camping trip and discovered I couldn't access my files off the grid. I could open a blank document but when I tried to Save As to see where my files were it didn't work. I think I don't understand whether my files are on my hard drive as well as on the "cloud." I'm a writer and need to access my files everywhere, even if I'm not in wifi range.

    thanks,

    polly
