Frequent Intermittent Power problems M5-581T issues

Advice would be appreciatted

I have a frustrating issue. My M5-581T states " battery not detected" most times when the unit awakes from sleep mode (example goes to sleep during lunch) and then minutes or hours later the battery show as detected. Once detected I can unplug AC and be OK.   If it awakes from sleep without AC there is no power.

I also see near daily events where I close the lid to take the laptop from/to work and the system goes to sleep/hibernate.   It appears the instance that the AC is unplugged the unit is completely OFF.  But of course not every time.

When I open the lid (wake it back up) the system actually turns on from a fresh hard reboot.

For the times I do successfully open the laptop without it rebooting (AC plugged in) then it can NOT detect any WIFI which means I have to shut down and reboot anyways.

Is this a bad battery or a bios/driver problem or possessed my my old Dell laptop?

WiFi - Qualcomm Atheros driver 3.0.1.155
Bios version - Acer V2.09, 1/17/2013
OS - Microsoft Win 8.1 6.3.9600 Build 9600

Please Help.

Are you still within the warranty period?

The laptop is 1.5yr old.  I don't know if the warranty is active.  I assume not.

Can anyone please provide some advice on fixing this issue.  I have a business trip coming and need a laptop that works as a laptop.

    Thank you.

Seems like the battery. A replacement is about $70 but may be a bit tricky to install.

I thought about replacing the battery but how does that address the WiFi issue?

Heh-heh. You're not the only one. Happens to me a *at least* 2 times a week. And it does NOT seem due to the battery. I assume a 'burp' happened in the router or my system or the provider or 'who knows?'

The odd thing is that the unit worked flawlessly until it coinsidentally upgraded to Win 8.1 then I began seeing issues.

    Anyone else notice this?

Hmmm? I assume you still have the Win8 erecovery partition to put things back the way they were. 8^)

I just wanted to check in and see if actualize had any update for us? Are you able to restore the system back to factory defaults? If so, are you experiencing any of the same issues today?

I would recommend attempting to update the BIOS when you get a chance. 2.11 is available on our support site. Also, I would make sure things like the wireless driver is up to date as well. I'm a bit concerned by the 3.0.1.155 Atheros drive you have installed, we may have some much newer ones available and that may provide some relief on that front.
