Aspire P3...good or nah

My laptop recently expired and I'm looking to replace with the Aspire P3 Ultrabook. I really don't care about batt life, screen res, the weight or memory. My laptop was 7 years old and a slow, heavy beast anything  new is worlds better. What I want to know is if this device will support what I do. Acer's claim to fame with this device is that it is a laptop in a tablet form. I need a full version of MS Office (for work and school), Silverlight (for work website), streaming media/subscription tv (such as hulu and Netflix). I need to be able to download attachments, pics and files from work/personal/school email clients. Need to be able to send these as well..... And don't forget printing all this stuff. How do you print or can it??

The specs are nice...but I need to know how this device functions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry for my bad eng Smiley Tongue

i alredy have Aspire P3 for near half a year ( i use Aspire p3 - 131 , the later number is ths the model that acer release and each model have different thing in them , for P3 most is diffrent is: ( in this is mine because of early release )

    cpu:
    core i3 or i5 ( core i3 )

    ram:

    2gig or 4 gig ( 2 gig )

    hard:

    60 gig or 120 gig ( mine is 60 gig )

the thing i can answer you is this:

in my package ms office wasn't included  but microsoft later tell that he will add a ms office in all ultrabook ( you can check it when i plan to buy it if it's there or no )

    http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/category/free-microsoft-office-with-all-windows-8-ultrabooks/pcofficeincluded.aspx

sadly i didn't use Silverlight but you can install Silverlight yourself or tell the seller to install it for you

    http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx

ps : i check it and it tell me i already have silverlight

for me ( because of haveing early ver, weak config ) watching 1 video at a time wasn't problem but for like stream ( like youtube )sometimes  it have lag when i want to stop or start it ( normal watching without doing anything  wasn't problem and you can watch it without problem )

if you travel a lot and need to have notebook to show somthing to someone or have to carry a lot of file ( manual, note , gudie , etc )  and  youy need a system for sometimes shoing in projection it do his job .

if all you do is this:

"I need to be able to download attachments, pics and files from work/personal/school email clients"

i don't think you have any problem

but if you plan to use it for editing pic or  do some rendering and etc ( heavy staff ) i recomand you  to use at last highest hardware setthing.

    about this:

"And don't forget printing all this stuff. How do you print or can it??"

there is normal use port ( not mini - most of ultra book i find at that time have only mini use and force me to carry adaport for convert it to normal usb )

if you printer have usb connection you can connect it to you p3 without problem ( or at most with installing drive )but for Parallel port you need adapor ( i didn't see any ultra book have this port ) also can use printer that share in network office for printhing ( need setup , ask your it managaer (or somthing like that) for doingit  for you if you don't know how.

    "The specs are nice"

    Man Very Happy

i have 60 gig hard and i will tell you it will be full in no time if you install some software - recomand you to plan to buy 1 usb memory and have encryption software for time it necessary.( mostly ultra user have it - if they have a lots of file that need to be protect )

    ps

your old laptop is friend of my old laptop ( 9 years old ^^ )- but i let him rest now.

    ps2 :

if you want you can also update your windows 8 in p3 to windows 8.1 - it's free and can be done by yourself or seller if you ask.

again sorry for my bad english Smiley Wink

thank you very much for the help, that tells me a whole lot. I pretty much knew I would need an external hard drive or USB Drive for extra memory but as long as it functions somewhat normally to a laptop, then that makes my decision easier. Once again thank you very much
