If you have not already done so, download a file manager like ES File Explorer, when you open it you should be able to navigate to a folder named after your book reader, for example, Kindle, your downloaded books will be there. On opening your Kindle app it should automatically find your books and display them.

Thank you for your fast response. I have ES file explorer... However, in folder "Kindle" there is another folder, "ACW" that shows as empty.

In folder "Kobo" there are 3 other folders, "epubs", images" and "updates". The last one empty, the other two with some files.

Are those the ones to transfer to my PC?

The epubs folder should have eBooks in it. Those you can transfer to your PC, but be aware that if the files are encrypted with DRM (Digital Rights Management) you will not be able to load them on the PC. In that case you'll have to get them again, on the PC, using the same accounts as you did on the tablet.
