Hello - Aspire 5740 ram upgrade problem

Hello all -

Any help is greatly appreciated. I have the Aspire 5740-6378 laptop. It has 4GB (2x2GB) running at 533mhz. I have been trying to upgrade to an 8GB kit. I have tried three different RAM kits from 3 different computer parts retailers and simply can't get any to come to working order. The first 2 attempts were DDR3 RAM running at 1333mhz and were the listed part for my laptop on there system. The last attempt was DDR3 PC3-8500 SODIMM 1066mhz which I felt might play well with my motherboard since it wasn't such a speed step up from 533mhz. None will work.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit. My original OS was the Windows 7 Premium Home edition. I upgraded myself about 4 months ago and it has been working fine. I am tapped out of ideas as to how to upgrade.

Any thoughts, suggestions, or directions would be great. Thank you in advance!
