Flash acer revo bios for linux

Hi,

I have removed windows 8 from my acer revo and tried installing Debian on it instead.

The install completes however the bios is only windows ready.

I have downloaded the alternate version of the bios but the instructions provided do not work. I see no way of accessing a command line to flash the bios.

Has anyone had this issue or know a work around?

Thanks!

    Hi.

    I have an RL 80.

I just called in to support and they had no idea how to do this.

Any ideas?  I just want to get debian installed today.

  • Hello,

I give you the procedure for this bios (this is the same way for P11.A2L):

BIOSAcerBIOS for Linux - UEFI for Windows 8 (Not for Upgrades)P11.A4L2.7 MB2013/06/10Download

    They made a little mistake!

    1- Rename BIOS_Acer_P11.A4L_A_A to P11_A4L

2- Copy this folder on your USB key (to the root). Your USB key must be a "DOS bootable key".

3- Follow the SOP document for bios settings from the points 2 to 6

3- When you are under DOS, type these commands (in red):

       C:\>cd P11_A4L

       C:\P11_A4L>cd DOS

       C:\P11_AL\DOS>cd 3M

       C:\P11_AL\DOS\3M>dosflash.bat (process to flash bios)

4- Follow the SOP document from the points 11 to 17.

    For information:

    "dosflash.bat" is: AFUDOS ..\..\ROM\C91AL067.cap /P /B /N /R

The contents of the folder P11_A4L:

    P11-A4L_1.jpg

    P11-A4L_2.jpg

    P11-A4L_3.jpg

Note: Before to do anything, don't forget to do this:

1- Make the recovery medias of windows 8

2- Note your actual version of the bios

3- Don't delete the hidden partition (you'll be able to recover your system like the factory defaults)
