Windows 8 freezes

I have just bought a Acer Aspire S3-391 Ultrabook™, Intel Core i3, 1.8GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB Hard Drive - pre-installed 64-bit Windows 8.

I am experiencing regular freezes in Windows 8 - the cursor will freeze for no apparent reason. It happens even when the load on the system is extremely low - i.e. hover over a tile on the start screen.....I haven't even attempted to run video on the system yet.

Here's what I've tried to rectify the problem -- all haven't worked:

  1. Refreshed the system
  2. Attempted system restore - but restore failed
  3. Opened up command prompt and ran  "bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes" - as I understand the problem could be to do with the Windows clock and processor dynamic ticking.

  4. I've also changed the power management to high performance

I really don't know what else to try.  I thought about wiping the machine and doing a fresh install of Windows but I don't have the installer as it came pre-loaded with the Acer S3.

Hope someone can help!

Thanks

    Good day

    1. Update the bios to the latest bios update.

    2. Format the machine by using Acer eRecovery Management.

    Thanks Freeza - much appreciated.

Will I lose Windows 8 by running eRecovery Management?  I'm assuming I'll lose all settings and installs.

How do I go about updating to the latest bios?

    Thanks
