PQSERVICE

Is this where I can ask my question?  ACER Chat seems to be shut down.  Simple question... does PQSERVI:CE need to be on?  (While knowing more about partioning is laudible, right now the PQSERVICE question is more pressing.)  Thank you.

    Hi MisfitKitty

PQService is the hidden recovery partition on your hard drive. It contains the Windows Installation files, drivers etc for when you need to reinstall Windows, or to create your own recovery disk.

So, basically, yes this partition is important and needs to be on. You could make your own recovery disks, then delete it if desired, but it is best to leave it there!

also remember disks are fragile or can be scratched and become unusable, having this partition you can always create another  set.

another point, while you system works you should make an image copy of this partition using an imaging program (there are several free ones).  if your HDD should die you can use the restore disks to install the system but it doesn't recreate the restore parrtition and you would have to rely on the disks remaining usable or have to buy a set from ACER if you ever have another problem.
