buzzing and skipping sound for streaming video; update Intel driver?

Hi, When streaming video on my Aspire 5334 laptop, playback is intermittenlty interrupted with a loud buzzing noise. Sound also stutters--most severe with YouTube video but noticeable with anything that streams. (I hypothesize that the buzzing is just a souped-up, rapid version of the stuttering.)

I have come across several posts in Web forums (one for another brand of laptop) suggesting that the culprit in such cases is a defective update for a driver associated with intel Rapid Storage Technology, which is on my laptop.

Following the advice on these posts, I downloaded the latest correct driver and installed it several times, verifying in my Device Manager each time that the latest version of the driver was in place--to no avail. The driver is

Intel ICH9m-E/M SATA AHCI Controller

version 10.6.0.1002

I'd be grateful if anyone would post back with any insights into the causes of the problem, or into the failure of a verified solution.

Not sure whether the following two points might also be relevant:

1. I did not uninstall the old driver before my first and perhaps second install of the update--but I did choose to uninstall subsequently through Device Manager.)

2. The jaStor.sys folder is in the System32 folder, which I thought might be wrong because I am running 64-bit Windows--but at that point, I am totally out of my depth/clueless (so please bear with me!).

Any thoughts? Any alternative explanations for this phenomenon? (I am afraid that watching video on the laptop will eventually induce a nervous disorder!)

Thanks

Since you’re already tried to correct the issue with the driver, I might suggest reloading your Acer computer. If the problem continues, it would suggest that there is a hardware issue and you can contact our support team to further assist with the issue from there
