Acer wants to charge me for a license I have already purchased!!??!?!?!

I purchased an Acer Aspire with Windows 7 Home preinstalled and no OS CDROM was included with my brand new laptop. I have a valid license for my operating system but Acer continually says I have to pay for a copy of my CDROM, as if they have the license to it and I do not. Is Acers business really this bad that they have to chase away their own customers with this kind of nonsense? I will strongly discourage anyone on any forum, conversation or discussion I am involved of in the future if so. Please honor my purchase and allow me to use my operating system on my new hard drive. I have already paid money for my new hard drive and now you are pinching me for an additional purchase. No class what so ever.

    Hi spudhead-yank!

Nearly every PC manufacturer these days follows the same practice. It keeps the retail price of the PC competitive. When you buy your PC, you have the built in recovery partition, but you also need to make your own recovery disks. You would then use the disks in event of a hard drive failure.

All Acer are doing are charging you for a copy of the recovery disks. The price isn't unreasonable for what you get.

If, you're really adamant you will not pay the small amount for the recovery disks, you can get all the drivers & applications from Acer's support site for your particular model, and you can download an ISO image of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit from here
