Hi,

I recently got a brand new Acer E1-572G. Windows 8 was installed, I upgraded to Windows 8.1. It does not want to go to sleep normally; if it sleeps, it does not wake up and only pressing the Power-button several seconds causes a turn-off. All my work is lostSmiley Sad. I reinstalled Windows 8; everything worked fine thenSmiley Happy. Upgraded to Windows 8.1, same problem as before. Smiley SadWhat can I do to make this work under Windows 8.1?

You can try updating to the latest BIOS available for your system. Make sure you carefully follow the instructions for updating it. I would also recommend you download and install the latest video driver for your system. You can locate downloads for your product at http://www.acer.com, click on Support, then Drivers and Manuals.

I installed the driver for the AMD Radeon card and now it doesn't hang anymore. That's nice, but now I can not put the laptop to sleep anymore. OK for now. Thanks!

Unfortunately I keep having problems with this one. Runs fine for a few days, then there we have the black screen again. I use system restore to restore to an earlier situation, which helps. Should not be necessary to do this every three or four days. Now my current question is: in the device manager I see two video adapters; the AMD Radeon (which should be there) but also a Intel Graphics family. I think that one should not be there. Can I remove that one?
