I use a commercail product called Driver Manager to try to keep my Z3731 as current as possible. Their software keeps telling me that the video chipset driver on my computer is obsolete, but recommending drivers from hardware vendors that I believe did not manufacture the integrated chipset components for my Z3731. Is there any way I can get a difinitve hardware assessment via software which will help me? The Acer software reports the following:
Serial Number: ***
SNID: ***
Model: Acer Z731
Driver Manager reports that the Microsoft High Definition Audio Controller is obsolete.
I have Verson 6.1.7601.17514 dated 11/19/2010 installed.
It recommends a driver from Diamond HD 7990 PCIE Graphics Driver instead. I've wrestled with this issue before and compromised. I believe that the audio componets of my particular system are from Intel not AMD. In the past I've tried various alternatives to this driver and nothing seems to work. Before I proceed, I'd really like to have difinitive harware information. Does Acer provide engineering specifications on-line any where in the world? HELP!
