Hello all

I have an acer aspire 5738G with windows vista installed.

In 4 years i have done a lot of recovery (vista is a too bad os) and now i want to install windows 7 .

My aspire 5738G doesn't boot anymore in vista (one more time), i take my windows 7 ultimate dvd and put it in the DVD driver.

It boot but the windows 7 steup always hang with a message

"a required cd/dvd device driver is missing ..."

I have tried with the Intel chipset Driver, Intel SATA AHCI driver buti can't install windows 7 ...

The message is always there Smiley Sad

Can someone help me or tell me what driver it needs to complete the windows 7 setup.

Thanks in advance

OK, if you now got the english 64 home premium up and running, how about trying to upgrade it with your ultimate DVD? The worse that can happen is that you'll get pushed back to square one and can re-do and re-suffer with vista again. 8^)  Or maybe if you're lucky you'll still have a working english home premium.

If you haven't done so already, first change the boot order in the bios to the DVD drive and see if that resolves the problem. Report back with results.

Since you have the USB install stick, have you tried camcel the installation when you get the driver message? This should bring you back to the start installation screen. Then remove the stick, and put it in another port, and then try to re-start the installation.

There could be an issue with the file on your original installation disk. You might want to try creating a new installation medium from another iso source. http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58997.iso .

    Sorry

I have tried with the ultimate iso (x86 and x64) i'll try with your link but if it doesen't work with the ultimate i think it won't work with the home premium.

I'll post here after some test

I don't know why but it's working with this ISO.

I'll try with the french one (because your link is for the english one) and tell you if it works too.

maybe the home premium have some drivers that the ultimate one does'nt have ????

What's with french ISO Acer ????

    I've tried this one

    http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-59009.iso

Home premium French and it's not working ....

It seems it's only working with English ones ....

So I have to install and English one and after the French language pack

It's something very ... strange ... why only English ????

How is it not working? Is it giving the same message "a required cd/dvd device driver is missing" etc?
