I purchased a V5-122P notebook just 4 days ago with the intention of replacing my 17" Sony Vaio with something a bit more portable. I use my Vaio mainly as a desktop machine, with the lid shut and 2 x 24" dual screen monitors plugged, one using the HDMI port and the other using a USB 3.0 HDMI dongle.
Since purchasing the V5-122P, I have updated to Windows 8.1 and started to migrate my files across, I purchased a thunderbolt connector and attempted to connect my screen.
Just using the thunderbolt connector and an HDMI lead into one of my monitors, I can set the resolution to 1920 x 1080 however the content on the monitor is "windowed" ie, it appears about 70% smaller than the screen itself.
The USB 3.0 HDMI cable, when plugged in appears in my device manager, the drivers are all running fine, however when I plug in the HDMI cable to connect to the other monitor, nothing happens.
The dongle is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, the same thing occurs, I can plug it in, the machine chirps and I can see it in my device manager.
All my drivers are up to date, in fact I have newer versions that what I was advised to get by the online chat earlier.
All my hardware is fine, I've been using and continue to use this setup on my Vaio.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Nick
