Can't boot from DVD

I have ACER Power S280 motherboard, bios version: (PHOENIX TECH, R01-B4 , version 2.3, dated 12-6-2005), with two drives, one is a CD drive connected to PATA bus, the other is a DVD drive connected to a SATA bus beside a sata harddisk drive.
The problem is; i can't boot system from the DVD drive, but it can boot from the CD or HDD correctly, I tried many SETUP configurations, BOOT PRIORITY, but the setup (can't find) the DVD drive, i.e: the DVD drive is not listed in the BOOT PRIORITY menu.
Also i've tried another attempts like: disconnecting CD drive, disconnecting the HDD, making the CD drive as a SLAVE, trying all parameters in the BOOT PRIORITY menu, all parameters in HDD BOOT PRIORITY menu, and almost all configurations in SETUP pages, but no use!, the BIOS SETUP doesn't (find) the DVD drive, so i can't make this drive as a booting device,
I ask is there something wrong with the DVD drive (it's new, LG), or motherboard (jumper setting, model), BIOS update, or any thing else !

After system booting (let's say from HDD) every thing is OK with both CD and DVD drives; read, write.....
I need both CD drive, DVD drive, to be as a booting device, like other PC i have which is with GEGABYTE mobo.
Thank you for your support.

It is possible the drive could be bad.

Will the DVD drive play movies in Windows?

You said the drive was New, did you recently replace it?

    Dear Clyde

    Thank you for reply

I examined all functions with this DVD drive, it works fine, play movies, burn DVD's, ...., but the BIOS can't find it so I can't boot system with this drive.

Also I connected it at another PC that has GEGABYTE motherboard and it boots correctly there!
