Can't get sony e500 crt monitor to work with acer aspire x1430 desktop

Hi folks Can't get sony e500 crt monitor to work with acer aspire x1430 desktop PC, win 7. At boot up I see "starting windows" etc then a permanent blank screen. PC works fine with the thin screen monitor. I can't easily get the monitor [very heavy] and the pc to an internet connection although I am online with another pc. setting are now 64. OK hz / 60 hz on the monitor firmware, resolution is 12x1024 i think the graphics card id onboard m anyway its definatly a radeon hd 6300 series when i connect the crt monitor to get the pc runing some of the setting that i would have looked at are not present. also i cant find the video cxard settings, but then i am completly new to win 7 Any ideas appreciated.
